How to SLAY Working From Home!

The Hey Mr. squad is making the very best of current circumstances. We are all so grateful for the ability to work from the safety of our homes, and still give our clients the quality content they deserve! Nonetheless, working from home has definitely been an adjustment for the team, and we are sure it’s been an adjustment for anyone else who’s currently doing the same. With positivity in mind, our team wants to help lighten the mood by providing our BEST tips and tricks to productivity, balance, and fun during this time of staying inside. Afterward, stay tuned for a Q&A of each team member’s personal advice, plus some insider shots of our stellar at-home workspaces. Check it all out below!

Stay Focused!

Don’t lose sight of your daily routine. In order to optimize focus, our team recommends treating your work-from-home days like any other day at the office. Get ready, take a morning shower, work at an actual desk (if you have one), and keep the lines of communication with your team open! Most importantly, pick your work-music of choice and rock out to those tunes!

Stay Active!

Try to stay physically active – even from inside your home! Lately, it’s been easy to feel like the days are blending together and lack of motivation is becoming more and more appealing. Staying active will keep your endorphins flowing and allow for easier motivation to get through your days. Whether it’s Jane Fonda’s Greatest Hits, Hip-Hop Abs, or your favorite yoga instructor on YouTube – there are plenty of ways to get your blood pumping outside of the gym!

Take Breaks!

Working from home is strange in the sense that you almost feel the need to over-work yourself and dismiss the idea of taking breaks. (Or at least I feel this way, anyone else?) However, taking breaks throughout the day should still be a crucial part of your workflow to stay motivated and clear-headed. Do you have a furry friend at home to take out on a walk or play with for a few minutes? Or perhaps a good book to read during your lunch break? Even periodical stretching helps. Taking these micro-breaks will improve your work mindset and allow for better productivity!
Now that we’re all in the know about how to SLAY our working-from-home routines, check out a few of our team members’ inside scoops on advice, favorite activities, desk decor, and more!

Mike, The Man, The Myth, The Co-Founder of Hey Mr.!

Best tip for working from home?
Shower, and get dressed like you are going to work in the office… at least your upper half.
Favorite at-home workout?
FIT36 Virtual live workouts! Tough times don’t last but tough people do!! (Not my quote but heard it today)
Other than Netflix-and-chill, what has your go-to activity been?
Coming up with endless 20-minute activities to keep a toddler busy.
What desk-decor can you not do without?
A glass of water, a mouse pad, and typically an empty cup of coffee.
How do you stay focused on work, vs ‘at home chilling’?
The getting dressed part is big for me to stay motivated and I try to do things I would do while at the office, listen to similar music, keep a conversation going with my teammates and take a lunch or workout break

Avery, Our ROCKIN' Social Media Manager!

Best tip for working from home?
Don’t do anything you wouldn’t do at work! You wouldn’t take a nap, watch TV or meal-prep at work, so don’t do that stuff when you’re working from home either. 😉
Favorite at-home workout?
Yoga! Hands down my favorite way to break a sweat and meditate. Also, I’m embarrassed to say, hula-hooping ha!
Other than Netflix-and-chill, what has your go-to activity been?
Playing poker using our loose change with my boyfriend, and catching up on those books I’ve been meaning to read.
What desk-decor can you not do without?
A cute desk calendar – keeps me organized and motivated.
How do you stay focused on work, vs ‘at home chilling’?
I park it at my desk and avoid the couch at all costs. Luckily we have SO much going on here at Hey Mr. it’s easy to stay focused because there’s a lot to get done. We can’t afford to zone-out.

Lauren, One Half of Our BALLER Social Media Coordinator Team!

Best tip for working from home?
Maintain the work-home balance as much as possible! I’ve been waking up at the same time every day, getting ready (as in ‘would-be-socially-acceptable’ ready), and sitting at my desk to work!
Favorite at-home workout?
Weights, stretching, and dancing around the house after a few glasses of wine! (After the work day is over, of course!)
Other than Netflix-and-chill, what has your go-to activity been?
Reading, spending time with my pupper, and getting the creative juices flowing by drawing my little heart out!
What desk-decor can you not do without?
My ‘Catana Comics’ Calendar (This thing is life-changing and completely relatable for those who are in a long term relationship. It’s so cute!), a glass of tea, and an essential oil diffuser.
How do you stay focused on work, vs ‘at home chilling’?
Keep my space organized, don’t couch-sit, and stay off social media until my work is done for the day!

McKenzie, the Other Half of Our STELLAR Social Media Coordinator Team!

Best tip for working from home?
Put on actual pants. It may sound strange, but as soon as you venture out of your pajama-filled world, your productivity will go way up.
Favorite at-home workout?
Why isn’t Dance Dance Revolution still a thing? Honestly, it’ll probably have to be yoga. De-stress and get the heart rate up.
Other than Netflix-and-chill, what has your go-to activity been?
Looking up recipes and attempting to find the ingredients at the store!
What desk-decor can you not do without?
A scented candle. I have a staggering amount of them at my apartment.
How do you stay focused on work, vs ‘at home chilling’?
The right Spotify station can do wonders and when the 3:00 PM slump hits, there’s nothing better than a cup of earl grey.
